The Extinction Club at Timberlin Creek Elementary School would like to invite you to the National Science Teaching Association (NSTA) Toshiba ExploraVision Competition.

The competition is open to students in the US and Canada in K-12 schools.  There are 3 groups defined:

- K to 3rd grade

- 4th to 6th grade

- 7th to 9th grade

- 10th to 12th grade

Students need to form a group of 2 to 4 members.

ExploraVision is a science competition goes into what it takes to bring ideas to reality. Pick a current technology, research it, envision what it might look like in 10 or more years, and describe the development steps, pros & cons, and obstacles.

Each student will have to prepare:

- An abstract of no more than 150 words that summarizes the proposed future technology
- A project description of no more than 11 pages showing present technology, history, future technology, breakthroughs, design process and consequences.

- A 5 pages website to showcase your project

Each member of the group that wins the competition at the National level will receive $10,000.

Each member of the group that receives second place in the competition at the National level will receive $5,000.

Deadline date for this project: January 31, 2023.

The Timberlin Creek Elementary School has already received a pre-competition prize. A laptop is being send to our 5th grade class and it will arrive on December 7, 2022.
