If You Can Dream Foundation
Celebrating 13 Years
October 24, 2009 - October 24, 2022
In 2008, Jacquie's friend made a bold move. She noticed that Jacquie was having some trouble in her relationship and she decided to include Jacquie's profile on a dating site. It was the FilipinaHeart dating site, later renamed to FilipinaCupid. This is what started it all! The photo on the right shows Ricardo and Jacquie's profile photos on the dating site.
On October 17, 2008, Jacquie contacted Ricardo! In fact, it was Jacquie's friend who contacted Ricardo. After some time, her friend told her to continue the conversation because it was becoming too personal.
12 days later, on October 29, 2008, Jacquie accepted a committed relationship. Click here to see the future plans Ricardo sent Jacquie on that day!
From that day on, Ricardo and Jacquie started to share their lives. Click here to see our newsletter from November 7, 2008, showing some of the lives we shared even being so far apart.
December 27, 2008 was Jacquie's Birthday! Click here to see the newsletter Ricardo released on that day!
It was time for Ricardo and Jacquie to finally meet. Ricardo's first trip to the Philippines to meet Jacquie was from January 16 to 21, 2009. The photo on the right was the first photo of Ricardo and Jacquie together with Ricardo and Irene (Jacquie's mother) below that. Click here to see the newsletter Ricardo published on January 24, 2009, that was focused on this trip to the Philippines!
After the trip, the official process to bring Jacquie to the United States started:
- January 23, 2009: Jacquie starts the process to get the Philippines passport
- January 26, 2009: Jacquie sends the Fiance VISA documentation to Ricardo
- February 13, 2009: Ricardo files the Fiance VISA petition for Jacquie at the US Department of Homeland Security
- February 16, 2009: Jacquie receives the Philippines passport
- February 27, 2009: The petition for Jacquie's Fiance VISA was reported starting by the US Department of Homeland Security
We could only wait now for a process that would take 8 months. In the meantime we exchanged a number of information and videos, some of those not available anymore on YouTube. Click here to see the newsletter Ricardo published on February 28, 2009, while waiting for the process to go through.
Communication was a little different back then. Ricardo and Jacquie continue with the remote communication, waiting for the Fiance VISA process to be approved. Click here to see the April 5, 2009 Newsletter published by Ricardo. it was difficult to wait for so long so Ricardo made another trip to the Philippines from May 1 to 10, 2009:
Click here to see the May 17, 2009 Newsletter published by Ricardo where all the details of that trip was published.
In the meantime, the Fiance VISA process was continuing. On June 25, 2009, we received the news that it was approved with the official letter coming on July 2, 2009. Click here to see the Newsletter published on July 12, 2009 where Ricardo included that information.
It was time for Ricardo to plan the next trip to the Philippines since we already knew an approximate date when the whole process would be complete. Click here to see Ricardo's Newsletter from July 31, 2009, with the details of the travel planning.
We will soon be including here all the additional information leading up to the wedding, the wedding itself and our happily ever after.
